That Was The Week, That Was - 4th July 2025

I am actually writing this week's update from a coach in Northern France!

With me are over 100 Year 7 students who, like me, had a very early start to their day, leaving school at four o'clock this morning to travel across the Channel and visit Le Touquet.  We have just had an amazing baking lesson in the traditional Boulangerie Escoeuilles and are about to sample snails at L'escargotiere du Choquel before even reaching our final destination.  These are brilliant opportunities and, hopefully some great stories to tell.  I'll let you know about the snails next week!

I am not alone in experiencing a wonderful trip this week at school, as we have actually had quite a few…

Adventure islandOn Tuesday, the hottest day of the year so far, lots of Year 9 students embarked upon their Rewards trip down to Adventure Island in Southend.  Despite the heat and the repeated suncream applications, they had a great time and it was a wonderful way to round off Year 9 for the students.

On Thursday, we had double trips running, with our elite athletes representing the school at the District athletics competition over at Colchester Garrison whilst Year 10 Art students went to Gainsborough House in Sudbury.

On Wednesday this week, our Year 9 and 10 footballers travelled over to Shrub End to compete in the schools cup final.  I am extremely proud to announce that both teams were victorious, so we are now the champions!!!  For our Year 10 team, this is now the third time that they have won this competition in four years!

I feel like I say this quite a lot, but I am so proud of all the great experiences our students get alongside their education at school.  It is a joy to help them try new things, broaden their horizons and make some memories to last a lifetime.

Have a wonderful weekend!
