Pupil Premium Strategy 2025-2026
Pupil Premium Strategy Statement: No Opting Out
At The Stanway School, our core mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that every student, regardless of their background or socio-economic circumstances, has an equal opportunity to excel, thrive, and lead a fulfilling life.
The Pupil Premium is a grant provided by the government to help us close the "attainment gap" between disadvantaged students and their peers. However, for us, this strategy is more than just a financial requirement—it is a moral commitment to social mobility and educational excellence.
We recognise that students eligible for Pupil Premium funding can face unique barriers to learning. These may include limited access to extracurricular enrichment, gaps in literacy or numeracy, or challenges surrounding wellbeing and attendance.
Our strategy is built on the belief that high-quality teaching is the most powerful tool we have to level the playing field. By investing in the professional development of our staff, we ensure that the students who need the most support receive the very best classroom experience.
The Three Layers of Our Strategy
-
Identification: Knowing our pupils and their specific contexts. Establishing full engagement in school life through a positive environment, tailored planning of their learning and encouragement of strong attendance.
-
Supporting reading and writing across the curriculum: Providing bespoke interventions, such as small-group tutoring or 1-to-1 support, for those that require it and encouraging a love of learning.
-
Supporting communication and language across the curriculum: Ensuring our pupils can demonstrate their understanding, express their feelings and ask questions. We will support pupils to participate, to be articulate and confident when expressing themselves in a range of situations.
