Ofsted Information

The Stanway School is a non-selective 11-16 academy located on the west side of Stanway.

The school was founded in 1956 and has grown over time to now house 1400 students across 5 year groups. The school is set in grounds to the South West of Colchester and serves a wide catchment area, predominantly to the West of the city, with many small villages making up a lot of its intake. In recent years, a large number of houses have been built within the priority catchment area all around the school. The recent expansion of the school PAN to 1400 students accounts for these developments. Having converted to academy status in May 2013, the school has a Humanities, Maths & Computing specialism and is also part of the Sigma Trust, a family of 12 local schools (8 Secondary Schools and 4 Primary Schools) in North-East Essex.

The Stanway School was judged to be a "Good" school by Ofsted in June 2023.

Ofsted GoodWe are very proud of the Inspection Report and how it captured the spirit of the support and quality of provision being provided here at The Stanway School. We are delighted that the report acknowledges the many strengths of our school, confirming that we are delivering on our vision to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment for all, where every student matters.
