Business Studies
Head of Department: Ms E Conway
At Key Stage 4, Business Studies is a highly popular subject, with almost 50% of students opting to take it each year. We offer two dynamic courses designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the business world: the Edexcel GCSE Business Studies course and the OCR Cambridge National Level 1/2 in Enterprise and Marketing.
The Edexcel GCSE Business Studies course delves into the core principles of how businesses operate. Students will explore a range of topics including business activity, marketing, human resources, operations, and finance. This course provides a strong theoretical foundation, enabling students to understand the challenges and opportunities faced by businesses in the real world.
For those with a more practical and vocational interest, the OCR Cambridge National Level 1/2 in Enterprise and Marketing offers a hands-on approach. This course focuses on developing key skills in marketing, promoting, and running enterprise activities. Students will engage in real-world scenarios, learning how to identify market opportunities, create marketing campaigns, and develop business ideas. This course is ideal for budding entrepreneurs and those interested in the creative aspects of business.
Both courses foster essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork, all of which are highly valued in further education and future careers. Whether you aspire to launch your own venture, work in a large corporation, or simply gain a better understanding of the economy, our Key Stage 4 Business Studies programs provide an exciting and relevant pathway for success.
