Embark on an exhilarating journey into the digital world with our Computing and Computer Science curriculum! From Year 7, students dive into the essentials of digital literacy, learning about online collaboration, networks, and the foundational logic of algorithms, which teaches problem-solving skills applicable to almost any field. You'll explore how humans interact with computers, get an introduction to programming with visual tools like Sprite Lab, and understand critical topics in computer crime and online safety, including the Computer Misuse Act and GDPR.

As you progress, Year 8 introduces you to the inner workings of computing systems, advanced Python programming, and the exciting challenge of mobile app development where you can design and build your own applications. We delve into cybersecurity, uncovering techniques used by cybercriminals and learning how to protect yourself and networks. In Year 9, creativity flourishes as students design IT magazines, master data analysis with spreadsheets, and develop their own websites.

At Key Stage 4, our GCSE Computer Science course provides a rigorous academic foundation for the digital age. You'll master producing algorithms, engage in in-depth programming practice, and explore machine code, systems architecture, and how data is represented within computers. A significant part of the course involves a Non-Exam Assessment (NEA), where you'll design, write, test, and refine your own programs, building real-world software development skills. We also examine the vital areas of computer networks, advanced cybersecurity threats, and the crucial ethical, legal, cultural, and environmental impacts of technology. Computing is more than just coding; it's a valuable 21st-century skill that fosters logical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, opening doors to countless exciting careers in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
