Clubs & Activities
There are a number of lunchtime and after school clubs as well as numerous extra-curricular activities for students to take part in. The following give a flavour of our clubs: public speaking, mock magistrates’ trial, chess, calligraphy, trampolining, choir, rock school, orchestra and war hammer. We also put on a school production and rehearsals take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays once auditions have been held.
Book Club
Book club meets once a fortnight with Miss Kirby at lunchtime on Wednesdays and is open to all members of key stage three. We have taken part in the Essex Book Awards, the Carnegie and completed other book related activities. The important thing about book club is that it gives students the opportunity to talk about books with other like minded individuals. We have discussed different aspects of books and how they can sometimes translate into films. Students share their favourite books with each other, swapping opinions and even compare thoughts. They often recommend books to me too; which means I always have something interesting to read!
PE Clubs
This term we are offering a range of sports, both traditional and new and exciting activities. Keep your eyes peeled in the department and in lessons for more information. There will be a half-termly prize (Leisure World Voucher) awarded to one boy and one girl who show commitment, positive attitudes and are regulars at sports clubs.
